What is RoboCup?

RoboCup is a competition for autonomous robots (robots incorporating artificial intelligence that are capable of moving independently without human control). The major participants include college students and younger students.
The first international RoboCup competition was held in Nagoya, Japan, in 1997. Since then, the event has taken place every year in different countries around the world.
RoboCup 2017 Nagoya Japan, which was held in July 2017, drew 2,532 participants from 42 countries and regions around the world, as well as approximately 130,000 visitors.

What is RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2020 Aichi Japan?

RoboCup Asia-Pacific has been established since 2017 as a super-regional competition mainly for competitors from the Asia Pacific region in order to expand the range of competitors in the RoboCup leagues.
RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2020 Aichi Japan will be the first RCAP to be held in Japan.
This event will be concurrently held with World Robot Summit 2020, an international robot conference co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan and the New Energy Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), and Japan Robot Week 2020, co-hosted by the Japan Robot Association and Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd.
The venue, Aichi Sky Expo (the Aichi International Exhibition Center in Tokoname City), will be turned into a space filled with robots.
